Because That Ass Won't Shake Itself

The groovy eclectic tunes on local college radio station KVRX have helped us slog through many a tepid workday. When they're not broadcasting on FM 91.7 (the frequency space is shared with Austin community station KOOP), you can always hear them over the internet - or at your leisure now, thanks to their podcasting feature.
Where else during the day can you turn to hear songs from Wolf Parade, Sufjan Stevens and !!! back to back with great local acts like Deathray Davies and Belaire? We're happy to support them whenever we can, both because college radio stations generally are critically underfunded and also that we find them endearing for still insisting on referencing lines from Napoleon Dynamite. Whether it's because they're in need of funds or simply wanted a semi-legit excuse to get trashed and dance (or that could just be us), they're hosting Summer Dance Party tonight at Flamingo Cantina starting at 10pm.
For a mere three bucks (five if you're 18-20) you can rock out with local wunderkinds Things That Go Pop, the Zom Zoms, and Ghostland Observatory. Seriously, $3 barely gets you a decent breakfast taco these days; why not help these kids buy more studio equipment? Or beer. Or whatever the hell it takes for them to brighten up our 9-to-5.
