The Serie Project

We've long held a mild fascination with serigraphs - silkscreened art carefully crafted using multiple levels of stenciled colors - whether as the high-brow pop art of Warhol or Lichtenstein or the dazzling gigposters you see pasted around town. Mostly we're just amazed that people possess the foresight and patience to create these meticulously detailed pieces.
Which is why we're looking forward to Mexic-Arte Museum's unveiling of the 11th Serie Project, a showcase of serigraphs by local established and emerging artists. Having just finished a run at the Salon de la Plastica Mexicana in Mexico City, the exhibit will be displayed at Mexic-Arte Museum beginning this Saturday, July 16th and running through late August.
Just as important as the art medium being showcased is the message underlying this exhibit: the Serie Project attempts to foster an understanding of the cultural diversity behind Austin's visual arts community. You can check out a portfolio of their artwork here.
