Currently making his way on a nationwide tour and in town performing a single show tonight is Jade Estoban Estrada, who'll be presenting his self-authored musical, ICONS: The Lesbian and Gay History of the World, Vol. 1. Estrada was last here in May at the Vortex; for tonight's show he'll be at the play! Theatre Group, also on the Eastside.

ICONS is a 75-minute solo musical wherein Estrada "channels various queer icons": Sappho the Greek poetess, Michaelangelo, Oscar Wilde (who totally cracked us up), Gertrude Stein, Stonewall Riots instigator Sylvia Rivera, and TV-host Ellen Degeneres. The small budget production has been generally well received, and its sequel - Volume II - enjoyed a successful two-week run in Austin.

Tonight's performance proceeds benefit TACT, the Transgender Advocates of Central Texas, and ALLGO. You can find out more ticketing and show information here.
