Bruce Campbell Tonight at The Alamo Drafthouse

a brain that is screaming

Bruce Campbell is like, totally in town right this second and Austinist is totally in a schivtz about it. We want to bump into him at Curra's and be all like, "WE ARE YOUR BIGGEST FAN" and invite him back to our house to smoke weed and sit in the hot tub. Seriously, he made a robotic hand for himself IN THE DARK AGES. How much cooler can you get?

Campbell is in town because he's appearing tonight for screenings of his new movie, Man With The Screaming Brain, a movie that he directed. He also wrote the comic book version of it. (We don't know why we know this, but he did, and it is apparently pretty darn good.) Sadly, all three shows have already sold out, so if you're just finding out about this show, you're up a very specific creek without a paddle.

More ranting about how much we love Bruce Campbell, including links to buy his new book and see his official web site, after the jump!

But if you love Campbell as much as we do, there's more than one way to get your fix. He's just written a new novel, which, in a Pollackian twist, features a character named Bruce Campbell who is a B-movie actor who gets miraculously cast in a big time romantic comedy. If Make Love the Bruce Campbell Way is as good as Campbell's first book, If Chins Could Kill, well then, this will also be a good book! He's also got a disturbingly thorough web site with pretty much every detail of everything he's been involved in, ever.

So, if you've got tickets for one of tonights shows, you are very lucky and also smart, and we want to hear all about it. And if you don't have tickets, please weep gently with us while we rock back and forth and watch Bubba Ho-tep, which, in case you haven't seen it, is a movie where Bruce Campbell plays someone who may or may not be an elderly Elvis who now lives in an old folks home and fights soul sucking mummies along side John F. Kennedy, who is an elderly black man.

GENIUS!
