TEX bites it. The phone system used for registration by University of Texas students will soon become extinct. Now the 1% of students who currently use TEX to register and get information such as grades will have to join the 99% of others and use the internet. Most current students embrace the change, probably because most have made the switch, but some EX's are upset and go as far to say they thought of TEX as the voice of their grandfather. So far, no protest in front of the Tower has been planned. [Source]

Congratulations and a big heehaw to country western bar Dallas Nightclub for being #1 in having the most drunk customers leaving a nightclub since January! TABC isn't too pleased, and wants to shut the club down. They site Ladies Night as the contributor to Dallas' failure or success, depending on how you look at it. [Source]

Bush tried to boost his acceptance level about the war in Iraq by refusing to set a deadline for leaving. He did say no more troops would be sent. As of yesterday, 1,738 American troops have been killed. [Source]

You've got something under your lip, Jim Spencer! KXAN weather man grew out a goatee, or something like it, and it is apparently bugging the crap out of more than just Austinist. You can actually vote on whether it should stay or go, proving democracy CAN be a beautiful thing. KXAN isn't missing a marketing beat. On their Web site, you can see Spencer's before picture, but to see his new growth, you've got to watch the news. [Source]
