Vote for Longhorns (men and women) in ESPN ESPY Awards

The Texas Longhorns defeated the Michigan Wolverines in thrilling fashion this January, winning their first-ever Rose Bowl and finishing the season ranked 4th in the nation. Dusty Mangum's field-goal as time expired capped off a gutsy performance by the Horns who were led by the brilliant play of double-threat Vince Young. The Horns won the Rose Bowl trophy, but now they are relying on fans' support to win yet another award, the ESPY Award for "Best Game" - that's best game of ANY SPORT at the college or pro lvel. Pretty impressive, say we. So, too, is their company: the other nominees are the Michigan State vs. Kentucky double overtime game during this year's March Madness and, what we assume will be the winner, Game 5 of the ALCS, where the Red Sox scraped back to beat the hated Yankees, a win that would help propel them to their first World Series championship in 86 years. But, the decision is up to us, the fans; so go to ESPN and vote for the Horns, cause it's always fun to watch Mack Brown give a speech.

But the men are not the only ones getting love from ESPN. Lady Horn Cat Osterman earned her second nomination as Best Female College Athlete ; she is the first woman ever to be nominated twice. Osterman led the Horns to another successful season by putting up a .36 ERA while striking out 15.2 batter per seven innings. Those numbers are absolutely ridiculous! Osterman is also up for an award in another category, Best Female Olympic Performance, for her play with the US Women's Softball Team. The ladies outscored their opponents 51-1 en route to their third consecutive gold medal.

Our hats go off to all the Horns for their accomplishments. Now log on and vote and remember to tune in to watch your favorite ex-friend, Matthew Perry, host the ESPY's on Sunday, July 17 at 7pm.
