Music For a Good Cause

guido2.jpg

We know you love living in Austin, where there's always a live music event happening. But the best is when the music benefits a good cause. This weekend, there are a couple of shows that will do just that...

All day today, at Threadgill's on Riverside, KGSR will be hosting a drive for Family Eldercare called FanFare Friday! Donations will be accepted until 7pm and go towards the purchase of fans and funds for low-income elderly Austinites. From Eldercare's website:

Family Eldercare provides services and develops partnerships supporting older adults, people with disabilities and those who care for them. We advocate for older adults and people with disabilities so they may remain in their homes and communities.

Tonight, at Continental Club, there will be a show to benefit Willie Graham, the son of John Dee Graham. Willie suffers from a rare condition called Legg Perthes. The talent is a who's who of Austin musicians: Resentments, Matt the Electrician & Beaver Nelson, Walter Tragert, Troy Campbell, Kathy McCarty, Steve Poltz, Bob Schneider, Shawn Colvin, New Hot Damn, Honky, Ian McLagan, Ray Wylie Hubbard, James McMurtry, Charlie Sexton & Alejandro Escovedo & (of course) Jon Dee Graham.
