The Oasis Employee Benefit Concert – Tonight at The Backyard

As you all know, about three weeks ago an early morning fire destroyed a large part of The Oasis on Lake Travis. The tragedy devastated frequent diners, who loved making the trek out to the lake for the Oasis’ unparalleled ambience, if not stellar cuisine. More unfortunate, however, was the fate of the 280 Oasis employees, many of whom were left jobless in the wake of the fire. Owner Beau Theriot promised to retain as many employees as possible, while rushing to get the restaurant back to its fully-operational state, and other restaurants hired what extra staff they could.
Well, Beau and the other restauranteurs were not the only ones looking out for his employees. In the true spirit of Austin community, KLBJ and KGSR have teamed up to come to the aid of former Oasis Employees. The two radio stations, along with a number of other corporate sponsors, are holding the Oasis Employee Benefit Concert tonight at The Backyard. The show, which features Malford Milligan, Two Tons of Steel, Jane Bond, Jim Scarborough Band, Psychic Cowboys, Haywire and The Big Time, begins at 4PM and runs until 10PM. Tickets sell for $12 and can be purchased at the gate and throughout Austin. Ticket locations include The Oasis’ Starlight Terrace, The Backyard, Antone’s and The Backstage Bar. Food and drinks will be sold, and corporate sponsor Royal Caribbean will be giving away a 7-day cruise.
All proceeds from the event, from tickets sales to food and beverage sales, will go to the Oasis Employee Benefit Fund.
It warms our heart to see the music and business communies of Austin reaching out to help our fellow citizens.
