A reason to get off your lazy arse
![]()
Sometimes the Austinist gets a little somewhat mind-numbingly lazy, especially during the hot hot heat of the summer months. We've been known to lock ourselves into our apartment, crank up the A/C, close the blinds, order in, and watch back-to-back episodes of The West Wing on DVD. And while we luuurve The West Wing, it’s not really the most productive way to spend our days. We know this. Thus, we have to find stuff to occupy our time, and (gasp!) maybe we should learn a little something, too.
So we checked out the summer course schedule for UT’s Informal Classes. Now we have so many choices, we can’t decide what to do! Should we opt for pilates, capoeira, or swimming? We’ve been meaning to learn Italian so we can move to Florence and eat gelato all day long. Or maybe we should take a career development course, because let’s face it, our menial job just doesn’t cut it anymore. Sigh. Decisions, decisions.
July courses are starting soon, and they will fill up fast – check out their website today! Maybe you’re interested in gourmet cooking or learning how to make sushi (impress your friends and lovers!!). Or perhaps you’d like to know more about the fine art of Hollywood screenwriting (become kind of rich and semi-famous!!). Wherever your interests lie, chances are there’s an informal class for you. Online course options are available, prices are reasonable, and the courses are designed to give you the most information in the shortest amount of time.
So what’s your excuse? We can’t think of one. President Bartlet would be so proud.
