Have a Seat on the Casting Couch

Are you an aspiring screenwriter, desperate for the attention of coked-up Hollywood producers? Think your visionary space opera, erotic gangster epic, or smarmy interspecies love story deserves to be aired in public? News flash, Walter Cronkite: they've been done.

Still, seeing as how we admire tenacity, you might want to consider attending the Best Little Pitchfest in Texas. From July 22 to 23 at the Driskill Hotel, movie-industry representatives from firms like Imagine Entertainment, Evolution Management, and Morgan Creek will be on hand to smile consolingly hear your fantastic story ideas!

The $350 registration fee guarantees you five sessions of seven minutes of private time with the panelist of your choice. By our questionable calculations, that's like paying $600/hr to talk to these people! Clearly we're in the wrong business.

There's also a VIP Fajita Dinner Cruise around Town Lake on the first night for an extra $50. Austinist loves fajitas, but doesn't this seem a little weak for the Spago/Sky Bar Hollywood set?

You can register here for the event.
