Ballet: For Princes And Paupers?

If you're a fan of ballet, or just happen to be at Barton Springs this Friday or Saturday evening, you might want to check out Austin Dance Ensemble's "Ballet Under the Stars". The free production takes place at the Zilker Hillside Theatre (next to Barton Springs pool) at 8:30 each night, and features works by Mike McKinley, Ernest Gildon, Arletta Howard-Logan and John Logan - none whom we even pretend to have heard of (we're guessing they're affiliated with ADE), but we wholeheartedly support the Arts in Austin.

Of course, if you positively loathe the idea of watching a ballet outdoors or just can't be seen with non-paying spectators, you could otherwise buy your own ballet on eBay. For a mere $50k, you and 2,800 of your loved ones can watch a private production of The Nutcracker put on by Ballet Austin, and (ta-da!) play the role of Mother Ginger. Not so interested? At least check out the auction here.
