Escape the Sun with Slowtrain

SLOWTRAIN.jpg

What a difference a year makes. It seems like only yesterday we spent our summer Mondays at Cedar Street Courtyard, sipping Lemon Drops and relaxing to the soothing sounds of Austin’s own Slowtrain. The band, which “borrows influences from everyone from Dave Matthews to The Band to Bob Dylan to Johnny Cash” (according to their website) is undergoing some changes so we haven’t heard much from them lately. However, we were happy to learn that we can still catch the lead singer, Adoniram Lipton, at Flipnotics on Mondays for an acoustic set. We are excited to hear the new songs he’s been working on (along with some material from their great 2003 release “Escape the Sun”) before they’re played full band in the coming months. There’s no cover to get in, just bring a few bucks for a smoothie or a cup of tea…so much healthier than last year’s martini.

  • Hey, just a quick clarification in case anyone is reading these comments.

The quote on the influences (Cash, Dylan, etc) is from a review of our record, not from our own literature. Just a small point. I guess I like pointing it out cuz I don't really care for Dave Matthews too much. ;) This seems to come up a lot, maybe we need to move something around on the site.

Thanks for posting this though! It was a great show, packed to the gills. Good to see you there Emily...
