Gimme Fiction... and Other New Music
Spoon - Gimme Fiction
We had already told you that Spoon was getting national attention (again), but it seems like everybody was excited about Gimme Fiction hitting stores today. If you order Spoon’s newest album online, you will get a free 4 song EP plus a chance to win an autographed 7” single of I Turn My Camera On. Waterloo Records also has the EP available while supplies last. The critics have nothing but good things to say, and we feel the same. We like it when local bands get the recognition they deserve.
If you can’t wait to watch Spoon play at Stubb’s June 25th, you can catch them on The Late Late Show on Thursday and you can hear them do an in studio performance on Morning Becomes Eclectic on Friday around 1pm. Britt Daniel (you know, the lead singer/songwriter) also plays Emo’s Thursday May 26th.
Bobby Conn & the Glass Gypsies – Live Classics, Vol.1
Conn’s live rendition of his glam, disco, soul, metal, and show tunes fusion!
Sloan – A Sides Win: Singles 1992-2005 [Bonus DVD]
An “entertaining listen that proves Sloan is one of the finest power pop acts of its time.”
Team Sleep – Team Sleep
Finally, after years of anticipation, the side project for Chino Moreno (deftones) is released and trades the Deftones agro-flavor for a more ambient electronic feel.
(Team Sleep plays Emo's June 18th)
Tindersticks – Working for the Man: The Greatest Hits
If you are not familiar with this UK band, this is a good disc to start with. As the name implies, it is primarily a collection of their singles from the 90’s.
Weezer – Make Believe
Not getting the most favorable reviews, but we know you are still curious.
Lucinda Williams – Live @ The Fillmore [2-CD)
"Recorded during a three-night stand in San Francisco, the album captures Williams's band in superb form."
X – Live in Los Angeles
"Big, loud, dangerous fun."
