Grinding Of Hips: OUTLAWED!

The Texas House has just passed a bill outlawing "overtly sexually suggestive" cheerleading. Highschool cheerleaders will now be limited to jazz hands, standing on tip-toes, and smiling.

Edwards argued bawdy performances are a distraction for students resulting in pregnancies, dropouts and the spread of sexually transmitted diseases.

1. Does there really need to be a law saying this? Do you know how much money it costs to pass a law?

2. Isn't Texas supposed to be the land of the free, where the government stays out of our business? What's with all these laws telling us that we can't do things like smoke, cheer, and adopt children with our same-sex partner?

3. Cheerleading leads to sex?

4. Why do government officials spend so much time thinking about sex?

Yes, this is a stupid, wastful law. But geez, why couldn't it have been passed in 1993?!? Spare me the agony of an unwanted glance into the 13 year old savvy sex methods of Haley Criser, Misty Goodwin and whatever the name of the extra gross one was. Seriously. Long-sleeved, bright red Spandex uni-suits with fringe on the arms. It was so tight you could see the acne bumps on their backs. I guess everyone else attended Hot Chicks High?

i was a high school dance team member, and, believe me be, it did nothing to help me get laid or even raped. and we writhed about and shook our groins more than the cheeleaders ever did. and we were called the whore corps. and now i need to go feel ashamed for a bit.

More importantly - why all the stupid fluff legislation this session when there are HUGE problems in school finance and other ACTUAL issues?!

'... pregnancies, dropouts and the spread of sexually transmitted diseases.'

my high school cheerleaders did a cheer called whip it and the girls would pivot and then slap their hips in rhythm

hrmmm - she might be right about the cheers though - i get preggers just thinking about it.
