The Austinist was giddy when Chicagoist reader Angel Tagudin let us know that Rude Machanicals was doing a staged rendition of David Rees' widely popular comic strip, "Get Your War On".

From the Rude Mech site:
A certifiable internet phenomenon, “Get Your War On” represents pissed off, scared and outraged people of all political faiths as they react to 9/11, the Bush administration and their totally awesome War On Terror: “Remember when the U.S. had a drug problem, and then we declared a War on Drugs and now you can’t buy drugs anymore? It’ll be just like that!” Get in on the ground floor as we attempt to translate ranting clip-art office workers from the page to the stage in this daring workshop production. Isn’t it time you got your war on?
The production started on the 28th of April and runs Thursday-Sunday until the 14th of May. This means you only have EIGHT more opportunities to catch this show before if closes.
Performances take place at The Off Center (2211-A Hidalgo St), with $10 general admission and $8 students/seniors/ACOT members. Thursday and Sunday are Pay-What-You-Can.
For more information, you can call (512)476-RUDE. You may also make reservations here.
As always, the Austinist reminds you to please SUPPORT LOCAL THEATRE!

The creator is a guy that attends my quaker meeting. He said that it will be changing every night as they make modifications. It will also return next year, presumably.
