Ripple's making big waves!
This Saturday, April 30th, from 7pm-9pm, Progress Coffee (500 San Marcos St) is hosting a show entitled Episodic Attempts. The opening features wine, bite-sized food, music and the paintings of Sean Ripple, a self-made mover/shaker in Austin's art scene.
Sean's biggest claim to fame might be as the vibraphonist for The American Analog Set, but the Austinist loves him most for being the man behind the Tripartite Film Festival.
The festival, which is now in it's second year, celebrates film and cinema by allowing little-known filmmakers the chance to spotlight their work, all while raising money for charitable organizations. The inaugural Tripartite took place last year and raised money for the Lance Armstrong Foundation. This year's festival is benefiting Safeplace, one of the Austinist's favorite charities.
This year’s festival features nine short films from local filmmakers: Pilot & Olo, Kat Candler; Santa Ana, Ryan Cox; When the Cat’s Away, Aaron Marshall; The Keening, Alex Smith and Andrew Smith; Lost Not Found, Sean Ripple; Daniel, Jason Cooper; Barney, Stacy Schoolfield; Lead Role: Father, P.J. Raval; and The Color White, Angela K. Pires.
Tripartite will take place on May 6, 2005, at Jo’s (1300 S. Congress). Program starts at 8:30PM. Admission is free but donations (all of which will go to SafePlace) are encouraged. The Austinist recommends bringing your own chair.
So come join the Austinist this Saturday and show your support for a young man doing a lot for our lovely city's art scene!
