Austinist's first official happy hour at the Longbranch Inn was a wild success. Much of this had to do with the fact that we like our scotch, and we like it on the rocks with a splash of water. We don't want it filled to the top, we said a splash!
The turnout was great, with most of the Austinist crew showing up, as well as many folks who wanted to bask in the reflected glow of Austinist's glory! We drank, we cried, we told embarrassing stories, and we even had a free pyrotechnic show involving dream boat Justin Cox's head.
After the happy hour, we made our way to the local corner store to buy some Boone's Farm Wine Related Product, the finest of the worlds many screw-cap boozes, thus ensuring we would regress back to our glorious high school days.
Having secured the hooch, we made our way to our first of our 2 house parties that evening, where the band 54 Seconds was filming a live DVD performance. Austinist even caught up with some old friends we knew in our 6th street days. Gotta love this town.
After the show, we headed over to our second house party in the "SoCo" area, where they were spinning a mix of retro 80's and 90's music. The liquor was flowing, as evidenced by 2 of our contingency trying desperately to recapture their gymnastic glory days in the front lawn.
A good time all around, and Austinist's hangover was not nearly as bad as expected; always an added bonus. You can check out the rest of the photos here. Huzzah!
