More Art for the Heart

As if we haven't already bombarded you with enough crap to do this weekend, we have more. We always have more!

On Saturday night from 7pm-11pm, Austinist-friendly Camp Fig (305b E 5th) will be showcasing new work by Brant Watson and Eric Zimmerman.

Last July, Brant impressed us at the Creative Research Lab's Threads opening, so we're confident his work will be worth viewing again. Rumor has it that this Saturday he's showing some nifty monochromatic compass-based drawings.

On a related note, Eric Zimmerman also has work showcased at PLOTS AND SCHEMES, UT's dual-location MFA Thesis Exhibition. His work is in the PLOTS exhibit, which is located in the Creative Research Lab (2832 E. MLK Blvd). This showing, also features the work of Austinst-friend Jaladhi Pujara as well as installation, printmaking, painting, drawing and photography by Christy Black, Jason Buchanan, Ledia Carroll, Barna Kantor, Daniel Lievens, Jennifer Little, Eduardo Munoz, Beatrice Thomas, and Eric Tomberlin.

The SCHEMES exhibit is taking place at the AMLI Downtown ( 201 Lavaca St). SCHEMES features sculptures, paintings and video by Meggie Chou, Ward Evans, Lynn Richardson, Mark Schatz, Karen Skloss and Jade Walker.

PLOTS AND SCHEMES runs through April 30th.

  • Fun event, but the space is so small that you couldn't see the art on the walls once the keg party got rollin.
