Boxing Legend Bernanrd Hopkins to Meet Austin Fight Fans Today

bernard_hopkins.jpg As you all know, we at Austinist are lovers not fighters, but we know there are some of you who have an appreciation for the “sweet science.” Boxing enthusiasts will be thrilled to know that one of the all-time greats, undisputed middleweight champion of the world Bernard “The Executioner” Hopkins, will be appearing at Hooters on Riverside and South 1st from 4pm-6pm this afternoon.

Hopkins, who is tentatively scheduled to fight rising star Jermain Taylor on July 16, will be greeting boxing fans, signing autographs and, most likely, eating a few wings. For those of you who are not familiar with Hopkins, he is one of the more incredible success stories in recent sports history. Overcoming a tumultuous adolescence and a stint in jail, Hopkins is a survivor of the highest order. So, if you like the fight game, today’s your lucky day. Get on down to Hooters for happy hour and see a living legend.

Postscript: We promise this is the last time we will ever post about Hooters. We have to go wash our hands now.

Hooters
425 W. Riverside
