Do You Dig Herbs?

Spring in Central Texas is a wonderful time to explore the Hill Country. Wildflowers are in bloom. People are giddy. Many of the vineyards are hosting the annual Wine and Wildflowers Trail days (April 15, 16, and 17). Hey, no wonder people are giddy.

While we know that many Austinites find Fredericksburg a little too touristy, one can't deny that it does have some cute shops, good restaurants, and the unique Fredericksburg Herb Farm, which is not only an herb farm, but also a shop containing gourmet food stuffs and homemade body goodies, a restaurant, a B&B, and a spa. You can even get married at the Herb Farm.

This month (that would be April 2005 for those of you on painkillers) offers a couple of herby fun activities. The 11th annual Herbfest happens on April 15-17th. Who doesn't like an herb fest? So many herbs! "...the annual Herbfest at the Fredericksburg Herb Farm is a family event that celebrates the wonders of herbs and their many uses with herbalists, chefs, wine & music, landscape artists, cookbooks and garden authors," says the Herb Garden website. Herbs, herbs, herbs! Did someone say herbs?

And on April 30th you and your lovah can learn how to get sexy with herbs, in case you don't already know. Author Jeanette Jaffe Longoria will be availabe to sign her book Aphrodite & Me, Discovering Sensuality & Romance at Any Age. Following this will be a five course dinner focused on the foods of love for $50 a person. We urge you to attend so you can tell us all about it.
