Mrs. Johnson, Are You Trying to Seduce Us?
Austinist felt it was time for another post about donuts. Austinist has no affiliation with the Austin Police Department.
A mere freckle on the face of Central Austin, Mrs. Johnson's Donuts is a blink and you'll miss it sort of place on Airport and 49 1/2 St. Yeah, it's tiny. A tiny land of wonderful donuts and juice and milk and a little bit of the other stuff, too. They do sell coffee but please don't go there for the coffee. It's pretty much water dressed up to look like coffee. The donuts, though, well they ain't bad. In fact, mmmm yes, delicious! Heartier and much less sickly sweet than Krispy Kreme, Mrs. Johnson's is like the donut with substance.
They are open from 8pm to 12pm (one word: stoners) and offer the usual variety: bismarks, twists, blueberry, chocolate, and cinnamon cake, etc. We especially like the blueberry cake donut. We could and have made a meal of it. They also have a drive-thru window. Hello! Fawesome (we made up a new word there, did you see?)
