The votes are in, no re-count needed

The Austinist likes to read its sister publications, and we recently happened upon a story about skylines. Turns out, Austin’s skyline does not rank in the top 100 in the world, according to an article by Emporis, posted on the Chicagoist.

While the Austinist is not surprised that our great city’s view didn’t make the cut, it is interested in how that infamous new building being proposed will effect not only our skyline, but the entire downtown area. According to the Austin American Statesman, the forty-one story building will include a luxury hotel, three levels of shops, and 350 condos.

Our best guess is that addition is more about making money than making it to the top 100 skyline list.

If approved, the Frost Bank Tower will become the second tallest building in downtown Austin. The new building is one of five being proposed for the downtown area. Two others are being planned.
