Keeping up with the Joneses

The Austinist wanted to organize a citywide party at Book People for recently being named "Bookseller of the Year" by Publisher’s Weekly, but it seems everyone’s at their neighbor’s mansion across the street.

In lieu of a cake made from unbleached flour, the Austinist plans to congratulate Book People by updating our personal library. We invite you to do the same.

  • The Cheese Monkeys by Chip Kidd. I recommend it to anyone interested in graphic design. Especially students.

The new Tori Amos book because she's wackier in print. Always has been.

Just finished Motherless Brooklyn by Jonathan Lethem. Rumor has it they're making a movie of this genius Detective-with-Tourettes-Brooklyn-love-note that came out a few years ago. I won't reveal who's playing the lead...it's all wrong. Eatmebailey! Phonebone! All wrong!

I am currently reading Eleanor Rigby by Douglas Coupland. I am not finished yet, but I am enjoying the book so far, this is how I would describe it: a dark comedy on acid. Now, I've never personally taken acid, but from what I hear on the mtv, that is what acid would be like...either that or jello with extra sugar.
