Every Word Is True

We have a friend in LA who thinks that they would never be able to find a job in Austin working in the film industry. We keep telling her that she should make out with us she's wrong and that there is a quickly growing industry here, but we've never had any good evidence to point to.

Well, now we do.

Every Word Is True, a film based on Truman Capote's research for his book, In Cold Blood, is currently being filmed in Austin. Our recent accidental crush, Sandra Bullock, as well as Sigourney "I can do more than kill aliens" Weaver and Jeff "I'm not really high all the time" Daniels have been spotted around town. According to our tipster, they're filming interiors this week.

asst_04.jpg Bullock, and no, this is not just an excuse to post another picture of her, will be playing Harper Lee, the author of To Kill A Mocking Bird. That's one hell of a step up from playing the screaming girl on an out of control bus. Go local star! Go! (We have a feeling that Ms. Bullock has about as much civic pride as we do, so we're inclined to give her a bit of attention. Also, hottt!)

Seems to the Austinist that the movies made here in Austin tend to be of a slightly better quality than the schlock kicked out of Hollywood on a regular basis. Maybe we're just biased, and maybe we're just ignoring Spy Kids II. But we don't think there's any reason that a self-respecting Angelino who is fed up with the mind numbing traffic, wallet crippling rent, and constant sex with c-level commercial actors shouldn't move to our little town in the middle of Texas.

  • You do realize I'd be moving there too... Hope that doesn't cramp your style. And get your toes off my balls!

  • It's true-- they were doing a scene right by my office and they had the whole frakkin street blocked off.

I really wanted to skip by in my modern clothing singing "My milkshake brings all the boys to the yard" just to screw them up. But, they had cops...

  • Miss Congeniality! I'm there!
