Weirder and Weirder

Looks like Austin won't be the only place keeping it weird anymore. Red Nova reports that smallish cities all across the country are getting all freaky in order to combat the onslaught of big business. Small business owners afraid of being driven out of town by chains like Walmart and Borders are trying to remind people of the value of their local shops.

Austinist wonders if other cities will keep it weird in the same way we do - by drinking lots of Shiner Bock while wearing a teeshirt that says "Keep Austin Weird." WHOA! We are totally weirded out by your slogan, man!

(Nah, we think Austin is plenty weird. We've just become totally inured to it, living at the circus sideshow that is Austinist HQ.)
