Secret SXSW Shows: The Series

We here at Austinist value knowing something that nobody else knows pretty much above all else. Why else would we write for a blog like this? The inside line, people! The inside line! Invite us to your parties.

Ahem.

ghostland.jpg There is an old saying about SXSW which we coined two years ago after missing an unlikely but totally real secret show by Blur: If you hear about a secret show at SXSW, no matter how unlikely, just go. If you do not go, your favorite band will play the best set they've ever played to an audience of just 3 people, and then they will descend from the stage and share their drugs with everyone in attendance, and you will never be able to forgive yourself.

Over the next few weeks, we will post the details for as many secret shows, after parties, and insane hot tub orgies as we hear about. To start off with a bang, we've listed details for two unlisted shows by local electro-wizards, Ghostland Observatory, a band about which you will no doubt be hearing quite a lot in the future. And as a bonus, we've also included a tip about an unofficial show by Austinist favorite, Fractious. Click through for show details.

And if you know about any good parties, or any secret shows, send us e-mail! We will need, of course, to be put on the list so that we can brag to our friends.
